About Harm

Harm’s greatest strengths are his explosive jumping ability, coordination, and ability to quickly apply technical feedback. At 1.80m (5’11”), he is relatively short for a high jumper, which makes the explosiveness of his take-off and his ability to maximise his physical qualities particularly important. These strengths make Harm a very well rounded athlete. He did a Decathlon for fun this year and scored 5921 points. This truly shows the full potential of Harm. He is now starting to focus more on decathlon training as well.

Harm currently trains 8 times per week where he combines the jumps, throws, hurdles and short sprints. He has a strong background in movement-based sports, having also participated in gymnastics and trampoline jumping from a young age. These experiences have contributed to his strong motor skills and ability to learn new movements quickly. While he has faced some setbacks with injuries in the past, he tries to use difficult moments as motivation to come back stronger.

Why Harm?

Harm is the type of athlete who is genuinely eager to learn and improve. He has a strong ability to translate coaching feedback into action and is motivated by understanding how and why something can be improved. He is not looking for a coach to completely change who he is as an athlete, but rather to help him develop and maximise the qualities he already possesses.

Harm thrives in an environment where high expectations are combined with a strong coach-athlete relationship. He is highly coachable, enjoys learning, and responds best when there is mutual trust and open communication. At the same time, he values a positive training atmosphere where hard work is balanced with humor and enjoyment. Building genuine connections with his coaches and teammates helps bring out the best in him and allows him to perform and develop at his highest level.

What makes Harm particularly interesting is the combination of his explosive ability, strong motor skills, and independent mindset. He has already achieved success at the national level, but remains highly motivated to discover how far he can take his performance. With the right coaching environment and continued technical development, Harm has the potential to make significant progress in both the high jump and hurdles.

Academics

Harm is currently enrolled in the highest level of high school in the Netherlands (VWO) and will graduate in the summer of 2027. He hasn’t decided on his major yet.
