Nubia’s track & field story began at the side of the track. Back then she was a freerunner, and every time she cycled to practice she passed the athletics club and watched the kids training. A few trial sessions later, in September 2020, she was hooked, and by the following summer she had fully switched to track & field. Her background in freerunning, judo, street dance and swimming gave her a strong sense of body control and coordination, which shows in her jumping technique. She only started doing triple jump in January 2024. At first, she did it just for fun and hadn’t done much specific training. In just over two years, she has developed into the top triple jumper of her age group in the Netherlands. In 2026 she finished both the indoor and outdoor season with the Dutch lead!
Nubia’s biggest strengths are her technique and her ability to perform when it matters. At the 2026 Dutch Indoor Championships she won gold with 12.15m (Dutch lead indoor), while managing the pressure of her final exam year. That same year, she won the Dutch U20 title outdoors with 11.81m (Dutch lead outdoor). Her biggest area for growth is her approach speed. With a faster, more controlled run up, a more reactive take off and further refinement of the hop, step and jump phases, she has plenty of room left to improve. She trains six days a week across triple jump, high jump, sprints, strength and physio. After finishing the outdoor season, she shifts her focus toward sprinting to build the speed that fits her event.
Nubia’s goal for the coming indoor season is to work toward 12.50m. In the long term, she dreams of representing the Netherlands at the European Championships and other international championships.
Nubia is a driven and disciplined athlete who gives a hundred percent to everything she does. She is never quite satisfied and always sees what can be improved, which makes her a coachable athlete who takes feedback on both technique and mindset seriously. She proved her resilience at the 2026 Dutch Under-20 Championships, where she turned an outdoor season that was hit by injury into a national title through a strong mental switch when it counted.
Off the track, Nubia is calm and focused, but with her friends and teammates she is outgoing and fun. She values open communication with her coaches and thrives in an environment where she feels comfortable and supported. Combined with her technical foundation and the large room for development ahead of her, she has the potential to become a valuable asset for any college track & field program.
Nubia graduated in the summer of 2026 from the highest level of high school in the Netherlands (VWO) with a GPA of 3.85. She is looking to major in Physiological Psychology, Neuroscience or Neurobiology, driven by her curiosity about the biology behind psychology.
